Jadeite is a sodium aluminium iron silicate mineral. Jadeite and Nephrite have gem varieties of Jade. Trace impurities in Jadeite produce more colour varieties than Nephrite. Jadeite is used as an ornamental precious gemstone. Many common names are given to Jadeite including Imperial Jade, Chinese Jade, Lavender Jade. Jadeite Jade is widely used in the jewellery and ornamental carving trades, the clearer, more intense greens commanding high prices. |
